Case series: Acrodermatitis enteropathica and zinc deficiency in infants

Author(s):

Umesh Joshi and Mukul Sharma

Abstract:

This case series presents three infants diagnosed with zinc deficiency, manifesting as Acrodermatitis Enteropathica (AE) or secondary zinc deficiency. The cases highlight the importance of recognizing this rare but treatable condition and its management through zinc supplementation. All three cases showed significant improvement after appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Early recognition and prompt intervention can prevent complications and improve outcomes in affected infants.
